GROW North Texas Giving Grove Program is an affiliate of the national network called The Giving Grove. The Giving Grove started and is based out of Kansas City, Missouri. The network provides each city affiliate with a framework to establish community orchards around their city.
Since 2022, GROW North Texas has been committed to installing 15 to 20 orchards each planting season! So far, GROW North Texas has established and partnered with over 50 orchards around the DFW Metroplex.
Additionally, as affiliates, we support neighborhood volunteers in planting and caring for fruit and nut trees, blackberries, herbs and pollinators. These edible urban green spaces improve the urban environment, increase tree canopy for underserved communities and provide a sustainable source of free, organically-grown food for neighborhoods facing high rates of food insecurity.
Giving Grove orchards are community-led and
Grow fruits, berries, nuts, and herbs that are free to community members.
Serve as a community space for members of all ages to bond as they learn about local food production and healthy eating habits.
Have proven to provide big opportunities for positive transformation in neighborhoods.
Provide beautification through sustainable and nurturing care from stewards at each site.
