• Volunteer with GROW North Texas!

  • Are you a group looking to volunteer with GROW North Texas? We offer different group volunteer opportunities! Bring your family, organization, or company to Owenwood Farm for service work and teambuilding. You can help grow local food! Please read through the information below to get an idea of the volunteer opportunities we offer.

As a program of GROW North Texas, Owenwood Farm is an integral part of the Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space project repurposing a 7-acre property into a community gathering and learning space. The 4-acre farm currently is home to ½ an acre of fruit and vegetable production and a 35-tree demonstration orchard with a variety of fruit trees. The Farm provides opportunities for volunteers to get their hands in the soil and experience what it takes to raise the food we see in the store using regenerative methods that improve the soil and create more abundance.

    Volunteer Year Round

  • All of our group volunteer experiences are outdoors tending to the land. Volunteer opportunities range from supporting our farmers by weeding and transplanting, mulching our gardens, and maintaining our farm grounds.Because of our Texas climate, we love having volunteers all year long. We are very sensitive to the temperatures, especially heat in the summer. We might need to adjust your event day in the summer if the temperatures will be too high. In the summer, we also ask groups to schedule early start times and will not host groups in the afternoons when temps are hottest.

  • Second Saturdays

  • Every 2nd Saturday of the month, Owenwood Farm hosts a workday for the community in the morning. The time varies slightly with the time of year – in the summer we tend to start at 8am to beat the heat and in cooler seasons at 9am. Volunteers help out for 2-3 hours with general work tending crops, beautifying the farm, or on special projects. Go to the Events page to register.

  • Group Volunteer Opportunities

  • The Owenwood Farm staff works with your group to design one-time or ongoing, service-based team building experiences. Our urban farm can easily accommodate groups of up to 40 volunteers. Group volunteer events are half-day and take place either morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (1pm-4pm, cooler seasons only). Your volunteer event will begin with a quick farm tour, farm orientation, and a two-hour service project.
