ON-FARM FOOD SAFETY 101
THURSDAY DECEMBER 12TH, 2024
ZOOM WEBINAR
6:00PM - 7:30PM
Join us for an informative webinar on Food Safety! GROW North Texas Executive Director, Susie Marshall along with Food Security Advocate and Dallas-native, Candace Thompson, will be teaching on-farm food safety for beginners and small farm operations. Attendees will gain skills to develop their food safety plan and what is needed as their farm grows.
New regulations are making it imperative that good food safety practices become a part of farmers' daily lives. The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) brings additional responsibilities to most fruit and vegetable growers. This course will provide the information needed to help growers navigate the new FSMA Produce Rule regulations, including available exemptions.
What is FSMA? FSMA stands for the Food Safety Modernization Act, a national law enacted on Jan. 4, 2011, that authorizes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to take a preventative approach to food safety. FDA has finalized seven major rules to implement FSMA, each rule addresses a different point in the global supply chain for both human and animal food.
This webinar is funded through USDA FSOP Program, award #____________
