Birds are vital to our ecosystems and well-being, playing crucial roles in pollination, seed dispersal, and pest control. Birds also serve as indicators of environmental health. Carolina wrens are a common sight in the eastern two-thirds of Texas, making them a integral part of the local ecosystem. If you're interested in inviting these beautiful creatures into your backyard, this workshop is for you!

On April 22, Earth Day, we are hosting a workshop to create nesting boxes for Carolina Wrens! This class will be co-hosted with Aamir Tinwala from the Backyard Bird Project. They have been working for the past 3 years to help raise native Texan bird population, like the Carolina Wren, in the Dallas area by hosting nesting box building classes. Come develop your woodworking skills and get familiar with tools like a miter saw, table saw, nail gun, drills and more. You'll gain skills, knowledge and the opportunity to build a nesting box for a farm friendly bird that you get to take home!

PLEASE BE ADVISED: THIS CLASS IS FOR 13 YO AND UP. BRING GLOVES, SAFETY GLASSES AND WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES. WOOD CUTTING WILL TAKE PLACE OUTDOORS AND ASSEMBLY WILL TAKE PLACE INDOORS! 

The class will be in the gym at Owenwood Neighbor Space, 1451 John West Rd, Dallas from 6-8 PM. A water fountain and water bottle fill station are available.

Park behind the building and take the wooden ramp to enter through the double doors. Turn right and the short hallway will lead you to the gym.
