This workshop series is the funded project called The Learning Grove, made possible through the Love Your Block mini-grant from City of Dallas Code Compliance Services and Keeping Dallas Beautiful.

For this 3-workshop series, we will be looking at how to Plan, Prepare and Plant for Pollinators.

1) Plan for Pollinators **Important this is a Virtual/Online Meeting**

In the first workshop, attendees will learn the initial phases of planning a pollinator garden. Discussions will cover the following:

  • needs, wants, ecosystem services,
  • design and aesthetic decisions,
  • what, where and when to plant, and
  • maintenance.

2) Prepare for Pollinators

In the second workshop of the series, attendees will learn how to prepare the space where the pollinator garden will be installed. Techniques like lasagna mulching, solarization, cover cropping, and others will be discussed and demonstrated. Attendees will help prepare the space that will be used in the final workshop of the series.

3) Plant for Pollinators

In the last workshop of the series, attendees will lay out the plants in a design and plant them accordingly. Additionally, attendees will learn about different options when it comes to signage. Lastly, maintenance will be reiterated and emphasized. Attendees will go home with some handouts.
