Celebrate Lunar New Year with us! This webinar will highlight the holiday from a Vietnamese perspective, exploring its traditions, symbolism, and cultural significance. Participants will also learn about different types of teas enjoyed in Vietnamese culture and how they are prepared and used. The session will conclude with a discussion on the potential for growing tea right here in North Texas and what that could look like for our community!

MEET THE PRESENTER:

Phuc H. Vu, P.E.

Phuc is a professional engineer in the fields of civil and agriculture.

Phuc recently retired from the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) after 32 years of federal service. While there he has collaborated with farmers and land stewards across the US in resources conservation engineering, planning, and post-disaster mitigation.

In the last 4 years Phuc’s focus has been on urban farms in the DFW area along with other metropolitan areas outside of Texas. One area of high interest for Phuc is the field of Control Environment Agriculture (CEA). Phuc had developed technical manuals and training courses for NRCS nationwide in urban agriculture.

Phuc enjoys volunteering and traveling while doing humanitarian work. He is currently serving as the chairman of the Agricultural Support Committee with Engineers Without Borders, an NGO. Through non-profit organizations he has had opportunities to travel and collaborate with small farmers in Africa, the Caribbeans, and Central America on many occasions.

Phuc does enjoy fly fishing and being outdoors. He is currently residing in Keller and raised two adult children with his wife, Trang.

One interesting fact about him is he has visited forty-nine of the fifty states since coming to America.
