Welcoming Summer in the Orchard (June 27)

We know that summer temps have been here in North Texas, but its officially summer since last week.

Come weed (or hang out) with us at the GNTX Giving Grove demo orchard on June 27th from 8 to 11 AM. We enjoy the orchard early in the day to beat the heat! 

For those who are coming to work with us, bring work gloves. I always recommend wearing long sleeves and long pants, regardless of the time of year to avoid fire ant stings and sunburn. We will be likely be weeding and caring for the trees, but could also include tasks like thinning fruit, mulching, and fixing irrigation problems. 

We will likely have some blackberrries to pick and eat as well! No charge, since our community orchard is for the community!

For those who are coming for community, bring a chair or blanket to sit in the shade. If you have little ones, there is a playground on-site just before entering the orchard space. If you need to do some shopping, we have a farm stand from 9 AM to 12 PM with fresh products grown on the property! The farm stand accepts Credit/Cash, EBT, SNAP, and is a site for the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program.
