AN IN-DEPTH LOOK AT THE American Forests Tree Equity Scoring Tool

    MAY 15th, 2024
    VIRTUAL
    6:00PM-7:30PM

On April 22nd we hosted a webinar to introduce you to the the tree equity scoring tool. Tree Equity Score measures how well the critical benefits of urban tree canopy are reaching those who need them most. The score establishes an equity-first standard to guide investment in communities living on low incomes, communities of color and all those disproportionately affected by extreme heat, pollution and other environmental hazards. Tree Equity Score Analyzer is a more comprehensive tool that supports human-centered, deep-dive decision-making for urban tree plantings.

Register for a more in-depth look at the American Forests Tree Equity Tool and get the opportunity to test it out, ask questions and get the answers you need to use TESA for your own projects and needs!

RAINWATER HARVESTING & SOLAR IRRIGATION WORKSHOP

    MAY 28TH, 2024
Owenwood Farm and Neighbor space 1451 John West Road Dallas, Texas
    10:00AM - 1:00PM
Do you need irrigation in a growing space that doesn't have electricity? This class will show you how to collect rainwater and pump it using solar power. Licensed irrigator Dean Minchillo, Program Specialist with the Texas Water Resources Institute, will explain the basics of using rainwater for drip irrigation. He will be joined by DeVille Hubbard, a licensed irrigator, as they build a simple rainwater harvesting collection system at Owenwood Farm.

Following the explanation of terminology and basic information, both experts will work with you to hook up a solar-powered water pump and lay drip irrigation lines. You will help install the flexible tubing system that doesn't require cutting PVC pipe, glues, or solvents. Once the irrigation system is complete, you will have time to ask Dean and DeVille questions.

Please remember to dress appropriately for the activities and feel free to bring a water bottle, snacks and a folding chair for the informational portion of the workshop.
